Lucy

Flaxen Chestnut Mare - Appx 3 years old

Lucy was purchased in auction as a two year old, when I first met her I was impressed by her willingness and sweet disposition. She definitely stood out among the other horses and I knew she'd make a great little mare for somebody. We took her home and began her training just as we always do, she came through it all like a champ. Today she enjoys a nice groom and quality time, she tends to only truly bond with one person at a time but really gives her heart and soul to them. She has nice ground manners but fights being stalled, she does better in 24/7 turnout or a stall with a spacious run. Just a couple months ago she started to come up lame and we discovered she had an old injury to her tendon that didn't heal properly and the problems were resurfacing as we began to work with her under saddle. We did get this corrected surgically and she has recovered but hasn't been ridden since the problems began. She can be saddled and bridled but has only ever been ridden twice, so that is something her new owners will get to have full control of, we have been reassured that she should no longer have problems carrying a rider but she will never be suited for intense riding or competition.

Dorito - Pending Adoption

Wild Bay Gelding - Appx 5 years old

Dorito started off unsure of everything, he had no experience in interacting with humans and it took us a while to get him where he favored the company of people just as much as other horses. Slowly he started to realize he liked having a human partner and sought our attention, revealing his true sweet nature. He became quite a cuddle monster and would probably let you sit and give him scratches all day. With the fear of people gone he began to really progress with his training and within 4 months he was being haltered, led, tacked up and ridden lightly. Under saddle he is an easy ride, he's got a nice forward trot and a smooth lope but he is testy with new riders, once he learned they're in charge he will do his absolute best. He would probably suit as a trail or pleasure horse, or possibly even used in competition with further training. We don't recommend hand feeding treats frequently as he can turn into a piranha, a simple pat and verbal praise works well for him.
